Kayaking

We celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary today by embarking on a 3 hour kayaking adventure this morning. Accompanied by my brother and his long time girl friend, we headed to Los Arcos in PV. 

About 35 seconds after leaving the comforts of the resorts ropes we were greeted by a giant manta ray. Once the fear left my bones, the amazement sat in. Straight beneath us was this giant, beautiful sea creature just swimming and enjoying its day. 

About halfway to Los Arcos (45 minutes in to the trip), my arms were already started shaking, but we kept going. We snorkeled and watched the pelicans circling the rocks. It was truly a once in a life time experience. Once back inside the kayaks we ventured through Los Arcos. What an experience, growing up we often went white water rafting and it was very similar. The water and current rushed around us and pushed us through these enormous rock formations. 

Seriously, what an experience. The journey back took an hour, we burnt over 1,000 calories, and I gave up 10 times. I am so glad that we did it, and so glad we were able to share the experience with my brother and Madeleine. 

The best part of the entire trip was coming back to my little mermaid waiting for us at the beach! Tonight we are taking a sunset cruise with our family and I can’t wait!

Exhausted. Being a young mom people often ask me "how are you doing?" Well, I am exhausted. I am going to school full time, I am momming full time and I am doing the best I can. While I know I have the luxury of not having to work during this time, it doesn't make it any less exhausting. Kids. Why are children so intimidating? Today I taught my first interactive read aloud lesson to my kindergarten mentor class (if you haven't been following along, I am a teacher in training). I read through my book and planned all weekend, but when I sat down to start reading, I froze for a moment. I just stared at this group of kiddos looking up at me and I thought "what if I mess this up!" Children are the most honest group of humans on the planet, and I think that is where my fear stemmed from. I knew they would tell me if they hated it. I also kept thinking that everything you do impacts a child, and I just hoped my lesson would make a positive and meaningful impact. Luckily, they didn't hate it. They actually did better than I could have imagined. I tasked them to think about the different topics from the book while we read. Busy. I am quick, I think the saying is "slow to anger, quick to love", well that is not me. I am just quick in general. I am quick to feel everything and sometimes I forget to slow down and take it all in. That was actually my new years resolution this year, to slow down and appreciate everything that is front of me. (I honestly think I am doing pretty good at it, and I have noticed it becoming easier to see the silver lining in all situations!) This is such a busy season of life. I am a young mom, a wife and a college student. I feel like I am racing everyday. I am racing to my daughters doctors appointment and play dates, racing to meet my school deadlines, racing to keep my social life and racing to stay on top of basic things like laundry.
